ABOUT US

Meet the Founder

I'm Tyler, a 25-year-old graphic designer and auto enthusiast. I started Downshift Prints with the goal of combining two of my passions, hoping others would find it neat. Let me share a bit of the journey with you.

A Love for Design

My passion for graphic design began early. At the age of 14, I opened Photoshop in a computer science class and was instantly hooked. By 16, I was creating logos and designs for clients, and I realized how much I loved seeing my artwork brought to life. I still remember the first time I saw someone wearing a t-shirt I designed—it was a huge accomplishment.

Over the years, I've improved my skills and expanded my knowledge. From billboards to e-commerce brands, I've tackled a huge range of projects. Every design I create is an opportunity to push my boundaries and deliver something impactful. Seeing my designs come to life, whether on a screen or in print, brings me the same thrill and reward as it did the very first time.

A Passion for Cars

Cars have always been a significant part of my life. Growing up, I spent countless hours playing Need for Speed and Forza, dreaming of the day I'd build my own car in real life. Thanksgiving dinners were spent chatting with my cousins and brothers about the newest cars we saw driving around town or the latest YouTube video we watched.

When I turned 15, I bought a trusty Mazda 3 hatchback, which unfortunately met its demise due to a lack of oil changes. Whoops. That little mishap sparked a curiosity, leading me to learn more about cars and eventually fall in love with working on my vehicles.

Today, I own a 1991 Mazda Miata, which my Dad and I take to drift and track days several times a year. The excitement and community at these events are addictive and are partly what inspired me to merge my two greatest passions into a business.

Getting Into Gear

The idea for Downshift came after I set out to create some artwork of my own Miata to hang in my office. I played around with designs for a few hours and ordered a framed print online, not thinking much of it. When the print arrived, the feeling of unwrapping a piece of artwork that captured the character of my car perfectly put a huge grin on my face, and I knew it was something other car enthusiasts would appreciate too. That's why I decided to start this business—to bring that same joy to others.

My goal is to continue creating stunning, custom car posters that reflect the love for our vehicles. Each poster is designed by real designers, ensuring that each car's unique character shines through.

I can't wait to see what we create together,

Tyler M, Founder
